On 3rd June, Association of Vietnam Nurses (AVN) has cooperated with Becton Dickinson Company (BD) to organize scientific “Safe Intravenous Therapy” with the participants of 130 offline guests in HaNoi, and almost 500 online participants who are Nurse leaders, Senior Nurses across the countries.
The conference started with opening speech from MsN. Muc Pham, President of AVN, highlighted the importance of nurse role in patient care, raising the bar of the quality and encouraging nurses to step up from execution to be the “expert” in their own field.
In alignment with view point of AVN President, Mr. Dominik Becker, BD Medical Segment Business Director – Southeast Asia also expressed the treasure for Nurses, who are the hero clearly proven through last 2 years pandemic. Mr. Dominik also shared the commitment and mission of BD in “advancing world of health”, accompanying with Associations across South East Asia to improve clinical practice for both patients safety, and health care worker safety.

The most remarkable moment in the event was the introduction of Dr. Tran Quang Huy, Vice President of AVN and MsN. Ngo Thanh Hai – Clinical Manager of BD Vietnam, for the very first National Guideline and training curriculum for “Safe Intravenous Therapy”. This was a huge accomplishment with the involvement of 17 Nurses leaders and Educators in Vietnam to develop and to standardize guidelines, training courses specifically for Infusion for Vietnam hospitals to learn and to apply, based on INS guideline.

Followed the introduction, the conference was honor to have MsN. Nguyen Anh Nhung from University Medical Center HCMC, MsN. Tran Van Oanh from Viet Duc Hospital and AVN Committee Board, Dr. Truong Quang Trung from University Medical Ha Noi and Clinical leader of AVN, to deliver lecture for specific topics as following: Procedure for applying peripheral intravenous infusion, Central venous line care and management, Care and management of the subcutaneous injection chamber. In addition, the conference had received lots of ideas sharing, questions and answers among participants and key note speakers related to flushing protocol, closed system management, experience in proposing advanced technology solutions to hospitals to bring more values for our patients.
The enthusiasm and commitment among Nurses in Vietnam had been seen clearly, all for “Dual safety”: Patient and HCP safety.
